About the Book Scholarship
Why?
​
​The She MATHS Book Scholarship was created to support and uplift Black women and girls as they pursue their academic journeys in mathematics and STEM-related fields. Aligned with our mission to foster academic excellence, sisterhood, and innovation, this scholarship aims to ease financial barriers and honor those who have pushed through trials and hurdles to get where they are today — empowering the next generation of leaders to thrive and make a lasting impact in their communities.​
Award amounts/selection

(1) award of $500 to a current undergraduate student

** Any applications that are incomplete (missing any components of the application, including the letter of recommendation) or submitted after the deadline will NOT be considered. **
Eligibility Criteria
High School Students
Applicants must:
-
Identify as Black or African American young woman.

Currently be enrolled in high school as a senior (class of 2026).

Receive acceptance and plan to enroll full time in a 2- or 4-year college/university in the U.S.
-
Intend to purse/declare a major in a STEM discipline (verification will be needed once you are enrolled at the college or university).

Have at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Attend a high school located in Miami-Dade or Broward County

College Students
Applicants must:

Identify as Black or African American woman.

Currently be enrolled full time at a 2-or 4-year college/university in the U.S. in an undergraduate program as a freshman, sophomore, or junior during the application cycle (this means you will graduate Spring 2027 or later).

Be majoring in a STEM discipline.

Have at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA

** To give more scholars the opportunity to be supported, past recipients are welcome to reapply after sitting out one application cycle.**
Application Components
The application will require the following:

General information about the applicant (name, school information, household income, etc.)

Short essay question (answered in 300-500 words)

Answer all prompts within one essay: Tell us your story. What inspired your interest in your field, and what trials, hurdles, or experiences have shaped your journey? What are your career goals, and how do you plan to use your knowledge and experiences to make a lasting impact in your community or the world?
